Christmas Lights
In its quest to be environmentally friendly Uppingham Town Council has changed the Christmas lights in the town, Townsfolk have been delighted with the outcome as regards the effect, and there is another bonus in that one string of the new LED lights is equal to two of the many hundred previous light bulbs, saving on electricity and carbon emissions. Cllr Julie Lewis and her team have worked extremely hard to prepare the lights for the contractors to install. The Fat Stock Show annually donates the Christmas tree in the Marker Place for which we are grateful. More improvements are planned for the Christmas lights next year. More »
Public Lighting
With a saving of 58% of electricity and less carbon emissions eighteen street lights in the Town have been converted from old 35w sox street lights to 24w PL. Details as to their location are available from the clerk, and on the Town Council's web site

"Uppingham Town Council is in agreement with Rutland County Council that Uppingham does need to see some future development of the size and type set out in our responses in this document. Uppingham Town Council wishes to be proactive with Rutland County Council to ensure that this happens in a manner that has the support of the people of Uppingham. In particular there is no desire to see another large-scale housing estate but rather smaller developments, including "in-fill" sites, which we believe are more in keeping with the special character of Uppingham".
Neighbourhood Plan
Uppingham Town Council is working with other agencies in the Town to produce a neighbourhood plan. Providing this plan gains the approval of the Town, it will be the guiding document for most of the planning decisions made in the town, and will link closely with the responses made by the council to the site allocation document mentioned above
Uppingham Town Partnership
It was reported to the Town Council that the Partnership continues to have dialogue with Uppingham First over collaboration, and is now working on planning Town Events for the coming year, following allocation of some grant aid in support of these events
